O ministro atendeu a um pedido do Tribunal de Contas do Rio Grande do Norte. No pedido feito pelo TCE, o \u00f3rg\u00e3o alega que o reajuste dos vereadores viola a lei de responsabilidade fiscal. Na decis\u00e3o o ministro Humberto Martins alegou que o aumento pode causar grave les\u00e3o \u00e0 economia p\u00fablica e total descontrole nos gastos da municipalidade, com potencial de incentivar outros munic\u00edpios a tentarem o mesmo, quando ainda vivenciamos as graves consequ\u00eancias dos danos sociais e econ\u00f4micos da pandemia de Covid-19.
